Portes Ouvertes Paris 2013: An open door to the Self

What we love about La Rentrée is how many chances there are to re-acquaint ourselves with the teachers and studios that make up Paris’s spirited yoga community. It is such a great way to get a feeling for each studio’s unique personality, its staff, students and energy. If you have always wanted to taste a different style of practice or a new teacher, there really is no better way to sample something new without commitment. However, if it’s commitment you are looking for, most studios offer interesting discounts on class cards and memberships during their Rentrée / Portes Ouvertes events to seduce hungry students into investing in their health and well-being.

Last Sunday, we visited Ashtanga Yoga Paris for their Portes Ouvertes, and in addition to Linda and Gérald’s beautiful demonstration of poses from the Primary, Intermediate and Advanced Ashtanga series, they offered FREE yoga classes, pranayama sessions, opportunities for discussion, yummy tea and superfoods from SOL Semilla (thanks to Carolina Daza,) and snacks to everyone who stopped in. It was lively, warm and such a sweet, informal way to connect.
