Teautally Cool: Winterize your Lips

Some people can tell the weather is about to change because they feel a twinge in an old injury. I have a friend whose achy collarbone predicts rain with uncanny accuracy. Me? I don't have anything in my body that behaves like a meteorological soothsayer, but I do know the season is inching into its darker phase when I notice myself rabidly rummaging through pockets and handbags looking for lip balm. I have tubes and sticks and pots stashed all over the place: on the bedside table, on my desk, in the bathroom, in my handbag, in my yoga bag...

Thanks to this compulsion, I’ve road-tested all kinds of products and replace my favorites yearly. And because I’m always toggling between the US and France, the brands are a bicultural cross-section of American and French fancy and drugstore brands. My dermatologist claims that all you really need are Vaseline or Aquafor, but those are no fun.
