Gratitude. Warm clothes, a place to live, hot food, loving friends and family...
Christmas is just around the corner and it reminds me of everything I have to be grateful for. It also reminds me how there are many out there who don't have access to some of life's most simple things.
I've decided this month, to work with Entraides-Citoyennes who support the homeless community around Paris.
The yoga session will be centered around GRATITUDE. A practice that can literally change our lives, and hopefully, the lives of others. By practicing gratitude on a daily basis, we are more able, and willing, to see the beauty in everything around us.
As the end of the year approaches, I feel it's the right time to take stock, to pause a moment and to acknowledge what a wonderful life we have. To reflect on the experiences we've enjoyed (or survived!), the people we've met, the new paths we have taken.
I'm hoping to have live music and some other teachers present (donating their time) to make sure you get the most out of your practice, and that you all enjoy a relaxing massage at the end!
In exchange for the yoga class, I ask one thing! Please donate something. The following list was given to me by the president of Entraides-Citoyennes, so please try to stick to it and bring something (or several things) from the list. Please make sure that the clothes are clean and not full of holes ;)
Mens comfortable shoes (33-44)
Mens comfortable clothes (S-L) including trousers, t-shirts, sweatshirts and coats
Mens new underwear
Sleeping bags, duvets, covers, towels
Bathroom essentials: toothbrushes, toothpaste, rasors, shaving cream, shampoo, shower gel, sanitary towels, baby wipes
Please note: NO WOMENS CLOTHING.
IN ADDITION: Entraides-Citoyennes organises weekly "maraudes" around Paris to check in on the homeless community. As Christmas is around the corner, they have asked if people would be willing to donate a box, or bag of chocolates - to give a little festivity and christmas spirit to those living on the streets.
The class is open to all levels, you'll need to bring your own yoga mat along with your donations.
If anyone wishes to make a money donation, I will also have an envelope with me. I will be taking the donations myself to the centre (if anyone wishes to join me, you're more than welcome). If you are unable to attend, but you still wish to donate, you can find me at one of my regular classes and I'll store things at home until I make the donation.
